Mrs. Mack’s Video Game Design Class 2016-2017
All Classes’ Pong & Breakout Games
Mrs. Mack Video Game Design classes have their Game Studio Website ready with their first game. It is a pong game made by students: Students prepared a custom backdrop and the ball sprite for use in Scratch using the free online photo editing tool Sketch.io Sketchpad 4.0. The code for the game mechanics is adapted from Scratch’s Pong Tutorial. To play most of the games, you have to use the mouse to move the paddle and hit the ball. The goal of this game is to prevent the ball from touching the line at the bottom.
More advanced and experienced students coded the left and right arrow keys to move the paddle and hit the ball. They also coded a variable to let the player earn and lose points while playing. Expert level students modified Pong by adding bricks for the ball to break (“Breakout” or “Arkanoid” style game).

(Also, please keep comments positive! This is the first game many of our students have ever made and they worked very hard to make every part of this game, from coding to graphics!)
