Yale Tech Intern Reflects
IADAS student Jesmarie Hernandez completed a two-month program interning with Yale Information Technology Services (ITS). She worked as a Media Technician, working in Yale's student technology collaborative (STC). Her team was tasked with filming two projects: an "Annual Report" of interviews of people who work in IT and people who were helped by them, and a "Computing@Yale" video to show Yale freshmen the benefits of the Yale IT program.
She learned how to use the Adobe Creative Cloud (Premier, Photoshop, InDesign) and what working in Yale ITS is like. She also learned how to use Photoshop to create t-shirts for a t-shirt design contest, which one of her fellow interns won!
Jesmarie talked about her favorite part of her experience: "My favorite part was the worker relationships. Since the first day we all got along so well, interns and supervisors alike, and we created great friendships."
Asked if she'd pursue a career in IT in the future, she said: "A career in the tech field interests me greatly because it's so hands-on and is basically the foundation of businesses, schools, etc. This internship makes me lean more towards it, but I haven't decided quite yet."
