Visiting Artist
Pamela laRegina, a calligrapher, visited some of our students today to talk about the alphabet and creating text. She discussed the origins and importance of the alphabet, and talked about how the alphabet has changed over time. She also showed examples of different alphabets she has created, and wrote students' names for them in calligraphy. She stressed the importance of learning to "draw letters" rather than writing. She also talked about calligraphy as a daily practice, and compared it to tai chi.
