84 Hour Film Challenge
Nine students spent 2 hours Friday, 9 hours Saturday, and 8 hours Sunday producing a film for the 84 Hour Film Challenge. On Friday morning students get a list of things that have to be included in the film, such as:
Specific character doing/saying a specific thing
A specific line
A specific item has to appear
Specific shots/locations
etc.
By providing those specifics, no one can get a head start and get more time. On Friday they started writing the script, Saturday morning they edited it for time and did read-throughs, calculating how long each line and action took to stay within the 3-minute limit.
One of the shots required a dark room opening to outside, so they spent 1.5 hours covering the windows for the 5 seconds of darkness needed. They shot some takes over 20x to get it right! They learned how to control the auditorium lights as needed. After shooting they edited all the shots and cutaways together, adjusted audio and picture, and created the title and graphics.
It was a huge undertaking, so please congratulate the students when you see them. Not all the team appeared in the film, but all were just as valuable and important!
Challenge participants: Brian Vazquez, Jose Perez, Denisel Cerda Jesmarie Hernandez, Karla Montoya, Sadilka Lopez, Noel Mitchell, Mahmood Mahmood, and Nielsen Felipe. Our own Big G makes a special appearance too!
Their film was about "acting auditions gone wrong."
